like others have said i dont see a reason why you wouldnt wear it. if a hunter sees you sitting in your spot while you are wearing orange they are probably more likely to not stumble thru the area you are hunting. if they glass an area that looks good and dont see you because youre wearing all camo there is a better chance they will walk thru, ruining your hunt. when i see another hunter i try and make sure they know im there so i dont startle them, and maybe they will move out of the area since i beat them to it.

Like was said before to many irresponsible hunters out there some of them walking with safety off all the time and don't have bino
with them they use scope to see what is moving on that clear cut, they look at you through the scope with safety off :yike: :bdid:
I use my vest even at shooting range, you never know :yeah:

Maybe the safest thing to do would be to just stay home!  :chuckle:

I would like to share a personal experience with you. It makes me tremble even 40 years later just to read my own story. Please consider what you can become involved in a flash moment.

One foggy October morning, I was sitting in an old tree stand overlooking an old Pioneer Apple Orchard along the Gas Pipeline on the Fort Lewis Military Reservation. This area had shown a lot of promise, and I had seen a couple nice bucks in the Orchard when I was on night patrol in the area. As the sun began to shine though the fog, I noticed a bit of "steam" rising up from under one of the trees. Immediately, I went on point. Further examination of the steam found me looking at a brown subject. I became increasingly on alert and assumed that there was a deer laying under that apple tree. I was using my 30-30 rifle with no scope and I did not have bino's with me, which was a stupid thing. Suddenly, the sun glinted off a brown object below the steam. I then just knew there was buck lying under the tree. WRONG. Suddenly, a woman came around behind  the tree carrying a basket. She was picking apples while her man sat under the tree smoking his pipe. A sick feeling came over me and I immediately left the tree stand and went home. I had hunter orange on, which is mandatory for rifle hunters in Washington, but they did not. Fortunately, for them I was an experienced person and a law enforcement officer. Although I did not talk to them, because I  did not have a reason to, other than common sense, they never knew how close they were to a tragedy. Not everyone in the field hunting is experienced, or a law enforcement person. There are folks out there that will blow away anything that moves. Chances are however, that if that moving person had on
orange, they would not be in much danger. We as experienced hunters know that we would not shoot at someone just because they were moving. Using my story above the apple orchard proved to me that there are a set of circumstances that we can get into and become involved in something that could be avoided. I liken the lack of a visible hunter to a person who drives in the dark or at dusk without lights on their car. They can see you, but you can't see them. So my friends, please wear whatever you choose to wear, and face whatever the consequences. I do support the notion that if hunters have to wear orange, so should everyone else out there during hunting seasons. Sorry for this long disertation, but I felt compelled to impart my experience to you.  Be safe out there, and good luck hunting. Thanks. Muskrat

I always have orange hanging off my pack. Doesnt matter what I am hunting. I even wear it when fishing in the high country during bear season. Mainly I am worried about some yahoo, shooting at me when busting brush.

since most places have three point or better laws i don't think its necessary unless you have a deer head on your pack.

I disagree - there are a lot of doe tags, and more importantly - people that aren't good in the judgement arena.

I just don't get why all these people are so scared. You better not eat hotdogs because percentages show you are 1,978 times more likely to die choking to death on a hotdog than to get accidentily shot in the woods. The odds are astronomicaly small.

NO. Not required where I come from but recommended. I do carry a blaze orange mesh vest in my backpack in case of an emergency, easier for Search & Rescue to spot from the air.

I've shot plenty of deer during rifle season while wearing orange and can't think of a valid reason why not to wear it.  The deer won't know the difference.  The other hunters will.   :twocents:
Yeah Thats right Cedar Pants.....You want to see orange go to Pennsylvania or anywhere back east and you can see orange dots for as far as you can see and they shoot the sheet out of deer ..I have had deer stand inches from me with orange on and they never knew the difference until they got wind of me then they would take off ..... :twocents:

I wear my lucky orange hat during ML season here in WA at all times...... Just me though..... I've only ever seen two other hunter in the last 11 years during a ML season without modern overlap wear any type of orange......  And still most hunters will walk right past me without a clue I'm there.....  :chuckle:
