How do you name your trailcamera pics?
« on: October 12, 2011, 09:03:47 AM »
I'm trying in vain to organize my trailcamera pictures... I can't name them by date because some dates have several pictures. The problem is that I used several different SD cards over the same season so the names given to the pictures collide, don't go chronologically, etc. It's a zoo. I'd just like to be able to view them in chronological order on my computer. Help!!

make a big fold to hold that locations pics, in that folder there are subfolders label from-to dates, I also copy the target bucks into a bucks folder to monitor progress and for quick access to make friends jealous  :chuckle:

I've got five cameras out now, and had six all summer. Most of them have been out since March. I give each set up a name. The cameras that are in the same general area, I use the same name then a #1, #2, #3, etc.

I then have an Excel spreadsheet to keep track of each camera and the dates I checked it and the dates that I changed batteries.

Every time I check a camera I replace the memory card with a clean memory card. Then when I get home I copy all the pictures into a folder with the name of that set up followed by the date (mm-dd-year).

For names just use road names, creeks, landowner names, just whatever key word will remind you of the location of that camera.

You settle down Bobcat. That's like som FBI/CIA stuff right there. I usually just wander around until I can find my camera (usually takes half an hour), realize the batteries died, take out the SD cards, realize I had the date and time wrong, etc. I'm not exactly Mr Organization... just Mr Steelhead :chuckle:

Haha. This is funny. I lost track of one of my cams for almost 2 months this.summer. forgot all about it. Had to check 3 spots to find it.

I use the location and the date I remove the card from the camera, then let the pics self number in order.
Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something. You choose.
