Opening day high country buck

I have to start by saying thank you to some good friends who showed me this area a few years ago, you know who you are. Started off by hitting the trail an hour and a half before light so I could be where I wanted at daylight. Worked a draw and found a few does, started heading a little higher and found a doe bedded in the middle of a snow field on the side of a steep face. I checked her with the binos and found this buck bedded about 20 yard from her. I ranged them at 420 yard, I wanted to get a little closer so I worked my way up and then another doe came walking up to the buck. He started getting nervous so I ranged him quick at 386 yards now. He stood up broadside and I put the crosshairs of the .260 6" above his back in line with his from shoulder. When I squeezed the trigger he piled up instantly and slid down the face about 200' into some small firs. It took 20 minutes to get to him and when I did I had to finish him off. My first shot took out his shoulders but didnt hit any vitals. We boned him out and loaded him on the pack rame for the 3 mile pack out to the pickup. He may not be the biggest buck on the mountain but I'm happy with him.
