I have a late permit jan 1 to the 16th just looking for some pointers on this unit or where to start before I scout soon

The unit is all locked up for that hunt. Plan on walking. I had that tag 4 years ago. WDFW is trying to thin the herd that runs Columbia Heights and tears up peoples yards. I've heard from WDFW Vancouver office that they get a lot of complaints about this herd. Unfortunately it is tough to get access to where they run around. I live in the unit and walk up on the hill watching them all the time. They're there but the main herd is accessed mostly by private property.

There are other areas up Coal Creek where you can get into them. Just have to park at the gates and walk in or get permission from locals to access the woods from their property.

mostly all private property good luck. i would start looking into getting permission to acess some areas.
