Had my first buck stolen!

He turned broad side and I let her rip. I was so excited; my first buck ever, no tag soup for this rookie hunter. I watched as my buck ran from me so I could find him when he dropped. He stopped looked like he was about to drop when another shot rang out. What the *censored*! I yelled. The buck tore off for about another 100 yards.

Akashasdaddy, with most rifles being sighted in high at 100 yards and with your shot on the spike being so close could it be possible you shot over him? With one bullet hole in the animal and it taking off another 100 yards after their shot seems kind of odd to me. So couldn't it be possible along with your lack of experience on killing a big game animal that the one bullet hole wasn't yours? not to stir the pot,just sayin

The bullet is climbing soon as it leaves the barrel so he would not have shot over him. They took his deer. This thread is out of hand.

I hate to say it for your first deer, but, some hunters are real a-holes when it comes to gettin' a deer. Elk hunters are even worse. Nothing you can do my friend. It's a lesson learned, plus you were alone.

I don't believe I should be punished for being alone. It really shouldn't matter. Yes it is a lesson learned, and it will stay with me forever. Using the excuse I was alone is almost justifying their actions. What they did is wrong no matter what, if I were with a group I would not jump on someone who was alone. I'd congradulate them for a good hunt, and ask if they wanted help finding and moving their harvest. These people are scum and are a prime example for there needing to be more preperation for hunters besides a simple class. People like that need to take a class on ethics and sportsmanship. This isn't finders keepers and this isn't Tee ball, not everyone gets a trophy. I earned my harvest with hard work, determination, and scarifices. I turned the other cheek in this situation and let me say it was VERY hard to do so. I could have acted a fool but at the end of the day i am a single father and what message would me acting a fool give to my daughter? That is the ONLY reason I left the woods today with out another scar on my knuckles.

You were in the right and handled the situation perfectly. Those guys will have to think about stealing that deer every time someone asks for the story or eats a piece of the meat. It really sucks that there are people out there like that and hopefully, they'll end up shooting each other and that will be the end of that.

THe only thing bad about that program is that the land owner picks and chooses the people who get to access his/her property.  They will only allow family and a few friends it is all BS.  It looks and feels like the public has access but in all respect it is just a loop hole for the land owner.  I think the land owner needs to grant access to more then just family and the same folks to get in the program. 

The program needs to be revamped 

This year I asked two landowners for permission to hunt. Both said yes.  I disagree with your statement.
