how about if you are cow hunting  they both are smaller than bulls and the two cows could be the same size?  mike w

i am still confused.  my son shot a 351 elk and a 40 inch moose and we got more meat off the elk.  i did not save the feet to compare them and they were different years.   i guess the question i am asking is if you see a big track is there a way to tell if it is an elk or a moose.  cause if you are hunting one or the other you dont want to waste time tracking the wrong one.  thanks,  mike w

Activity #3 – Reading Moose Tracks and Calling Moose

   1. Review what the Elder(s) shared about moose tracks. Make a list on chart paper of what to look for in moose tracks.

Moose have large, cloven hooves that are more pointed than elk. They have an alternating stance that leaves an overlapping impression of tracks. Moose tend to keep to well defined, wide trails. (4)

moose tracks are more rounded, and usually a lot bigger.
