yakima valley rabbit hunt
« on: October 27, 2011, 04:47:27 PM »
went out with beagledog last weekend out to yakima valley, and it was tora my pups first hunt so id thought id share. we went out and the we first went to a rabbit filled spot which we would probably get our limit pretty fast, being on private property we were told not to hunt there so it was off to the next spot. once we arrived we knew that there were gunna be some rabbits so we released the hounds. being 7 months it was really good for tora to get out with beagledogs beagles because she was sure thinking we came to play not to work, but after a little while she got the hint and got her nose to the ground and was learning.

we jumped and flushed some rabbits and the hounds were opening up and on the trail but being early fall there was so much brush it was hard to see anything and get a shot off. we finally saw a rabbit that the dogs were trailing and i took the shot( you gotta love that adrenaline rush). after that we caught on the trail of alot of rabbits and took some shots and saw some get away but being so bushy and the leaves still on the trees it was so hard to get them little bunnies. though it was a blast and the dogs had a blast and it was a great hunt.
im just a country boy..hunting with hounds and training horses.

We definitely need some snow to knock the weeds down. I went quail hunting this weekend back into one of our rabbit spots and most of the weeds were over my head. Shot one rabbit but left the rest that I saw for January and the beagle.
