« on: December 02, 2011, 08:02:13 AM »
Hello, I want to buy a Tikka T3 Lite .308 If you or someone you know has one for sale, please let me know. With scope or without.... I prefer without, but I'll consider both options. Thank you, Tibi

In my opinion , i would choose a long action caliber ( Tikka doesnt have a short action option).

Okay, I'm lost....Why does it matter? What am I missing?  :dunno:

The Tikka T3 in .308 is an excellent choice. I recently sold my Tikka T3 25-06 an just purchased a Tikka T3 in 22-250 the other day, both are great firearms. So I guess I don't get what you are saying, they are great hunting rifles they are not F-Class or bench gun shooters.

He's basically saying that it's kind of a waste. I don't see it this way but he's saying you are going to have a longer cycle of action anyway so get a long actioned caliber. That way you don't have to move the bolt all that distance for a shorter cartridge. It has no bearing on anything other than how far you have to move the bolt to cycle the next round. It really affects nothing in regards to accuracy or how well the weapon performs.

Yeah, another expert  :chuckle:

When I purchased my new Tikka the other day there was another gun expert customer telling me that $399 bucks for a new T3 wasn't such a great deal when I could get a Tikka T3 Varmint model that holds 5 rounds in the mag instead of only 3. I said "OH you must be an EXPERT on things that don't matter" He just shook his head and walked away. So I'm supposed to spend another 300 bucks to get two extra rounds???  :yike: DUH, I could have had a V8.  :chuckle: :chuckle:

Let me see if I got this right, I buy it, I take it home, I put a scope on it, send 6 rounds thru the barrel for sight in, I kill a coyote the very next morning before sun up. One round, one kill, yeah those two extra rounds would have sure come in handy, and I still have that extra 300 bucks in my pocket  :yike: Don't tell my wife.

Did you get that tikka yet? I'm still torn over amazing accuracy vs. amazing fun with a lever.

what i am saying, is pick whatever you want,
the tikkas are all long action .If you like the .308 , fine but why not a 30-06?

In my book it's a $$$ think. You can plink with milsurp all day without breaking the bank. Use it to practice out to 300 easily. Once you're good at that you can buy hunting rounds and see how good you really are. It's a little steeper to do that with a 30-06

The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

Whats that matter?

I have a T3 lite 7mm mag, it kills everything I point it at.

I have the T3 lite in 300 WSM and I love it....for some things. It's my backpacking/mountain gun. I sold off my other rifles in favor of the T3 a few years ago and now I regret. The recoil is extreme and for me, that effects my accuracy a little. I'm thinking about buying another rifle, maybe a model 70 or an a-bolt in .308 or 30-06. Don't get me wrong though, the T3 isn't going anywhere, I just want more guns!
