late season elk success.
« on: December 06, 2011, 07:05:51 AM »
Sorry for the terrible pic, it's the only pic I got of it. My year has been unbelieveable. My hunting partner and I took 6x5's in Idaho in October, he tagged out in the blue's watershed in November and I finnally notced my multi season permit for Wa on Sunday just one hour before dark and what would have been my last day hunting with the muzzy. Next was archery in the winston and that meant cow's only, which I had no problem with but I'd prefer to get bulls. Anyway, this 3 point came out of the reprod with a spike an hour before dark. The shot was about 50 yards and it went through with out hitting any ribs! The bull only went about 80 yards and layed down. The sad part was the spike stood about 40 yards away and watched me with the bull for about 20 minutes before he decided his buddy wasn't comming with him. Another friend of mine got his cow moose this year, my nephew shot his first bull with archery in the naches area, my cousin got his archery bull in the same week of his son's and two bulls in Idaho. Great year to say the least.

Thanks guys, it has been a year to remember and a year of sore muscles. I love to give friends and family elk and deer meat so none of it goes to waste. It's hard to even eat one elk a year much less two elk. Brian, if my dad gets that big deer it will be the topper of an incredible year. I thought I would not miss hunting till spring bear with all the time I spent in the woods this year but after watching a hunting show just 15 minutes ago I miss hunting already and cant wait till the spring bear draw results. Again thanks for all the comments.
