I would be more interested in this pol is it gave the inacurate reporters  a chance to say why while stay anomous... Not have to hear you bitch them out... I report honestly but woudl ove to find out what the other side thinks...

Interesting, managing wildlife populations is not the business of wildlife managers????Gives you something to really think about. :dunno:  I personally use all of my resources to make my hunt the most successfull that I can.  It usually means:  talking to folks, looking at data, looking at maps, talking to biologist in the area, etc.  I try to cut down on some of my scouting time since I don't live near the areas I like to hunt.

Well first off i dont think that the managers are doing a good job 680 (winston&toledo unit) cow permits within a GMU though a 5 month hmm nothing wrong with that,  :dunno: and why would i want to say that i killed a bull or a buck. The more people that say they did are just going to encourage more people to hunt the already crowded unit.  :twocents: Its just my opinion how right or wrong  you may think it is that is how i report my tags. Im done Im not gonna argue about so have a great evening.

I don't see any upside to not reporting, or reporting inaccurately. :dunno:

I can see an upside to not reporting all of your crab on your summer card, might extend the season after they tally a below quota amount....

I report accurately BTW.
I've heard that unreported crab cards go into the system as maxed out for limits.  So if you don't report thinking it will go into the system as a zero harvest, it actually goes in at the maximum you could've possibly harvested.  Just what I have heard, can anyone confirm?  Heard this was done to assume a worst case scenario before attempting to extend the quota season.  Again, just what I've heard once before.
Another thing I've heard regarding possible upside of inaccurate reporting is for wild steelhead.  I've heard that wild steelhead retention is based on quota.  Certain rivers allow keeping wild steelies and the quota is broken down to 50% tribal and 50% sport/commercial.  The amount of quota unharvested by one group can be harvested by another.  So all the guys that C&R wild steelies and report 0 kept and don't fill sport/commercial quota have then allocated their percentage of the quota to tribal harvest, so instead of 50% it might be 70 or 90%.  So I usually hear from other fisherman how they mark it as being caught so they keep that percentage of wild fish from harvest.  The downside I would see to this is if they somehow survey the fish after the fishing season and think that those C&R-fake harvests are actually escapement fish.  Not exactly sure how that works for determining the quota and limit.

Key word in my post was ALL of your harvest.  Plus, I think your assumption is innacurate as that would mean all non-reported cards would count as about 200 crabs if they were in area 7 but then if it is not reported, maybe they were in area 10, or 6, or ... get my point, it makes no sense.  it would be more accurate if they figured out the average harvest per reported card and then used those numbers to extrapolate the total harves per area.

Yeah, average would make sense.  Like I said it was something I heard or read.  Wish I could find it.  I thought it sounded weird when I first heard it.  My assumption would be:  someone didn't report, therefore they probably had a season worth not remembering; so zero would make more sense than max limit.

This poll could be interesting.  It will be interesting to run some stats on when completed.  In its current form the results will be useful for demonstration purposes.  A follow up poll using the suggestion above on why people voted the way they did will also prove use full but, would muddy up the results of this poll.  So I will refrain from explaining why I voted the way I did.  MMMMMMMMMMMMM........... I think 2 polls with no comments than a discussion of the results.  Could prove to be very educational.   :twocents:

Yes, kind of.  Need to add something like.  No, I don't want them to know were I hunt or something like that.  This poll is a darn good idea and I think will be quite interesting.   I know this is not the intent but, I think it would be interesting if designed to have some potential for statistical testing.   The poll above does.  I think maybe taking a listing of comments and generating questions, say 10 or so, may work.

Every poll  cannot come up with all possible answers. I made that poll because I would like there to be less hang ups about volunteering less than accepted answers. Comments at the end of a pol or survey can help in changing future thoughts on getting it right.
