Scouted it a couple weeks ago and not many ducks or geese using Crab Creek.

BTW, I'm a Turner too.  Ed Turner

Good luck to you.  I'll be over on the east side after X-mas too looking for ducks.

My buddy hunted the area today and didn't shoot a duck.  It needs to freeze.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

I hunted the area of Frenchman Hills Wasteway Monday and there were very few birds.  Ice on the ponds was thick enough to walk across.  All water which is not moving is frozen.  Hopefully we will get some snow around the Holidays and push some fresh birds down for you.

Good luck to you also Ed. I am also an ET.    Ethan Turner.
Do any of you know if the ponds on the outskirts of the creek are still dry?  About ten years ago they had water in them, but they were dry last time I was there. I hunt the area near that small town called Smirof (spelling?) I might not even be close on the name of that town. :chuckle:

Symrna is the name I beilieve you are looking for. As for the ponds, they will be open if the have current pushed by the creek. If they are not connected to the creek, then there is a good chance they will be frozen. As for ducks, look about 10 miles east of there up the creek on some private property that happens to be flooded corn fields. That is where all the ducks in that area will be and they will not leave.

Yea, kinda close. :chuckle: Yea I have seen that place. Frustrating.  There used to be some ponds above the high water mark of crab creek. i figured that they were fed by a spring. one was about 2 acres. There was no way they were fed by creek.  after morning hunt we would hunt quail & roosters, and jump shoot ducks on and near ponds.

There are only a few of those lakes that are fed by enough spring water to not freeze. A majority of them will be frozen with the 8 degree morning here.
