HECS?

Anybody use it? I just saw the infomercial/show on persuit last night. I am going to order some up for next season just to try it out.

I saw it too.  I've never been one for those scent eliminating clothes or any of the other gimics out there (just seems like a waste of money to me), but this HECS has caught my eye.  It's a pretty neat concept but I can't say I'd ever actually buy it. I'd like to do a little more research on the matter but at the price they are asking, it's not like you're breaking the bank or anything.  I would like to see some first-hand experiences with it from someone who isn't getting paid to promote it.  I know this wasn't really any help, just thought I would chyme in.

Haha. Im totally buying it. I will post up my results next season as I maybe will get out only one more day this year. Hopefully I'll get out turkey hunting and give it a go

I bought one after sitting in a stand 10 yards from a buddy that was wearing one. The squirrels were chattering at me running up the tree. they never made a sound at him. I put one on sat in the same tree and the squirrels would run up look at me being no further than  3 to 4 feet away and never made a sound. the only change was the hecs. It was explained to me like this. If you look at the glass on the microwave the pattern you see is what keeps the mico waves from penetrating the glass the hecs has the same pattern and material  in the suit. I am a believer I was able to get closer and get away with more movement after wearing one. it has my vote.

I have a set, I use it as a part of my layering system when stand hunting.  I can't say if it does or doesn't work a 100% but I figure it can't hurt, and I can afford to have as many layers as possible on when strapped to a tree all day.

I'm not a believer of any No Scent stuff either. Hunt with the wind in your favor. Nothing is going to 100% cover human scent.

 


this has nothing to do with scent. this is made to help break up the electric pulse that every living thing produces

Same here.  I'm skeptical in the same way I'm skeptical of magic and miracle bracelets that relieve pain.  Unless I see hard evidence by the scientific community that has nothing to gain from endorsing the product I think it's nothing more than another gimmick in an endless stream of gimmicks.  I watched a few minutes of their infomercial and rolled my eyes while switching the channel.

I have no doubt that there are folks who believe in the stuff but I'm not one of them.

 I am the same way. so i did research from the scientific point of view that had nothing to do with hunting or the company that makes it.  That is one of the reasons I gave it a try

Would rather spend that kind of money on new arrows or broadheads or bow string etc.etc. Way to pricey! I don't care what you have on or washed with, if an elk gets down wind of you, your done!

Probably the biggest load of BS I've seen in hunting advertising.

Sharks DO have organs designed to pick up faint electrical signals (which, by the way, propagate very well through salt water).

NO mammal, to the best of my knowledge, has EVER been shown to possess such organs or have such a sense.

This is a total crock, out of the same pot that brewed "crystal healing" etc.

Logically, it makes sense. 

I got the discount, from the infomercial, on TV, and didn't know about it until I read this thread.  $113 w/shippage, for the camo suite, is a lot less than most scent loks.  We'll  have to see how it works this fall.  With luck, those of us who purchased the suits, will be able to show those not wishing to "take a chance" what they missed out on.

I don't think you are using the word "logically" correctly. The company is putting forth wild claims about an animal's ability to detect you with nothing but hearsay and a sprinkling of misapplied science.

Moreover, Faraday cages drastically lose effectiveness if the enclosed object is not uniformly contained. Thus, one's head, hands, etc sticking out of the ridiculous shirt would largely negate whatever "energy" the thing was designed to counteract.

This IS a money-making lie. Way, way moreso than scent-block, because a) there's no question animals can smell you and b) there's no question some things (such as silver impregnation, etc) decrease to a degree scent-producing bacteria. I'm not endorsing scent block all that much (frankly I doubt it makes a huge difference most of the time, because no one wraps themselves up in it entirely) but I don't think it's an overt lie. This stuff is.
