Rubs and how to attract Elk

Are there ways to attract elk into an area?

I've found two rubs on trees far too big for a deer.  I also see evidence of other game.  How can I attract this bull back into the same area this year? 

Can you create a mock scrape or tear up the vegetation with lots of scent?  Does anyone have suggestions?

I've never tried or heard of any method like that. They pretty much go where they want in my experience, hard to make them do to much. good luck.
