I have 17 points and still have no confidence in drawing the tag.
Its a crapshoot.
All the points do for me is keep me from planning out of state hunts.

How do you get "deep into the Colockum"?  There are roads 1/2 mile from every direction.  Every time I try to get somewhere new and deeper, I run into another road or camp.

There's areas in the cloc where we went that there wasnt a hunter anywhere near us . thats where the elk where in decent numbers . some times deep in can mean 1/2 to 1mile through steep blow downs plus there's closed roads that get away from the crowds. I'm talking archery season mainly . as jim zumbo call these spots elk nests ( the only way there comming out is if you push them out.

I have 9 points for the archery draw this year and I feel like it is getting close?   I haven't been applying for the blues either. but know some one who knows the area really well and lives rite there, might look into it a little.

I have 12 points for the Blues, and I am not making any plans.... :dunno:
I'm with you, 17 points and I also have no plans!!!
“In common with”..... not so much!!

Ya i took it off my list for that reason it would be nice for a special draw to have a limited # of hunters and a little privacy so far i am going with these  Observatory, Goose Prairie, Dayton, Wenah, Blues.  (peaches ridge?)

Gentleman. There is such a thing as overdoing it... 12 points, 17 points. That just puts too much pressure on the tags, makes em "draw shy", you want to be in the 5-7 point range to really get a good tag :chuckle:

You just gotta hang in there,  It happened for me with 16 points last fall and it was well worth the wait.

I have 17 points and still have no confidence in drawing the tag.

16 or 17 points really should be near 100% odds for many of the good archery and muzzleloader elk permits. Just don't apply for the permits that only have 1 or 2 available. There's really no reason anyone should accumulate that many points, unless you're applying for only the permits with the very worst odds. You really only need 8 or 9 points for a good chance at some of the best hunts.
