When a person goes to land a freshwater bass, you can grab it by the lower lip, and it stuns it,, while with seabass it just ticks them off  :bash:

I've had my thumb torn all to heck in a season of fishing seabass, and I'll keep going back.. Ain't nothing like bar-b-q seabass

Hunterman(Tony)
yes I always grag the largemouth that way...Tony need you to grab my cabezons for me that way :chuckle:

Hey Ras,,,, Not no,   :sry: ,but HELL NO   :bdid:  The size of those things were "Man Eaters"  :yike:

Hunterman(Tony)
I will say they were,Del knows how to get us on them,I gotta do something to bad bob the ling kings line, man he can pull those things out

I think I figured him out.. He waits until we all have the cabezone on then he puts down the dark bait    :bash:

I've been told by my father-in-law that if I throw any more cabezone back,, they are moving in with us  :yike:

I just use my 50 lb braid to lift "seabass" out of the water, no worry about seals, but I then grab them with bare thumbs to dehook them.  Or, once in a while, a small one is just released by grabbing the jig and flipping them off.

Funny story though....  When I first came to Puget Sound, I was out fishing and caught a little 16 or so inch dogfish.  Not seeing any teeth, I stuck my thumb in there to remove my jig.  As I unhooked my jig he did a little head shake    :yike:  I learned real quickly about their "little" teeth!

Why does a seabass tear your thumb up and a freashwater bass don't ??

Hunterman(Tony)

Hunterman, sounds like you need to toughen up those hands. :chuckle:

The hands are good and tuff   but after a few limits my thumbs look like hamburger  :yike:    :chuckle:   :chuckle:

Hunterman(Tony)

I have caught hundreds of them, just giving you a bad time in good fun. You are right, sometimes they can wiggle like heck, but I keep going back for more. :)

No prob. bud  After a summer of catching seabass,,I need hunting season to heal  :IBCOOL:

There is a natural antidote for that. I was taught that a long time ago that nature has a way of putting antidotes near poisons as a general rule to stop the pain. An old timer showed me and it works extremely well and has saved me a lot of misery over the years.
