1" groups would be nice   3" is what. 1/2 MOA?  Thats not to bad.  Most of the time you get out past 400 or 500 yards, its not the rifle but the shooter.  I think as you shoot that thing and get a load worked up for it, it'll tighten up a bit.

How much better do you think it should shoot?

For 5k I would be looking for something more like 1/4 minute or better, do you think you are at the rifle's potential or are you still working towards it? 1/2 MOA should be do-able with an off the shelf Savage pretty handily.

I would like you to  show me, you, with a bone stock Savage rifle, shooting off a bi pod and a rear bag, consistently holding  1/2 MOA at 600.
Then  just for grins, show me you shooting a custom non bench rest rifle 1/4 MOA at 600 off a bi-pod and rear bag... consistently.
Then feel free to come over in March and school us at the rifle match in the link below.
There will be shooters there from all around the country that will be astounded at your abilities.

FWIW Savage does make an off-the-shelf benchrest rifle.

I think team Savage has more than adequately demonstrated the capabilities of their rifles.

Not sure how you or anybody on this or any web page could possibly hurt my feelings?
 I shoot with one of Team Savage's shooters. Allot. He is a helluva great guy and a great shot.
  I'm not too worried about a factory Savage rifle.
There a remote chance you could shoot 1/2 MOA with a Savage or 1/4 MOA as outlined in my earlier post?
 We seem to have different ideas as to what showing off is. This thread is just for conversation.  If I were showing off I would post up a video of me running 175mph + into turn 1 at Spokane Raceway Park on my R-1

Hahahaha! Real world question and the OP gets all spun up. Guess there isn't a bunch of ass patting going on here like at the above stated match and hell as for " Schooling" there are plenty of shooters at that match that can " School" Jim. As for the Savage shooter Jim speaks of, he is a hell of a shot and shoots F-Class and his savages do shoot tighter than that, his record and trophy room speak for him. Some ego's need to be kept in check. Don't sweat it FC, the click locally changes very often. There are several or so that "Think"  their the chit.
