Dodge throttle position reset or something like that..

I read some info on a thread about resetting the throttle position sensor or something like that to help the shifting and other things in the Dodge diesel trucks.  Something about disconnecting the battery and slowly pushing the pedal to the floor and something else.. Can't seem to find it..  Can someone help point me in the right direction please.
My '05 2500 is shifitng really odd and feels like it's slipping/lagging with only 53k miles on it and I wanted to give that a try before I start troubleshooting further.  Thanks!!

Yes you can reset the tps.  If you disconnect the batteries, that will reset the computer to factory settings, but it won't reset the tps.  To do the tps-turn the key to the run position (not started), slowly depress the throttle pedal all the way to the floor, slowly release to idle (remove your foot from the pedal), slowly depress to the floor and back to idle 2 more times for a total of 3 times.  After the 3rd time, turn the key off.  Now start the truck and let it idle for 3-5 min. (don't touch the throttle).  After it has idled for 3-5min. turn the truck off, then restart and go for a test drive.  You might have to do this procedure more than once to get it reset, but I've almost always got it work on the first try.  Good luck.

My TPS sensor on my 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel went out on me and I replaced it my self.  I didn't know about the TPS reset, until I saw the previous thread.  Although it was working properly after replacement, it felt a little sluggish when first letting the clutch out and I had some surging at 60 to 70mph when towing my 5th wheel.  After I reset the TPS, it seems much more responsive and I don't have the surging issue.  Worked like a charm for me!

The other thing to check is the roll-over valve on the fuel tank.  If it is plugged, you will have a vacuum in the tank and hear a "whoosh" of air intake when you relase the fuel tank cap to refill.  The vacuum causes fuel starvation, and is especially noticeable when towing.  Also causes "hard to start" issues int eh moring as the fuel get sucked out of the filter and fuel lines and back into the tank.

Just had my oil changed today and the dealer said I need upper and lower ball joints, steering box work, and other multiple front end things fixed.  Can't remember exactly what all they had listed because I was not in a very good mood after they told me.. But it was right around $3600 to fix it all.  I knew the front ends were a weak point in these trucks but it's an '05 with only 54k miles.  The motor isn't even broke in and I'm already having to rebuild the entire front end.  Does not make me happy.
