I just took one hit now I'm an addict

Yesterday out training a client (or dare I say Pusher) brought out his flintlocks for me to shoot. Having never done so I was excited to try and shoot one. We started with his 58 caliber smooth bore loaded with 7 1/2 shot. On my 3rd attempt I busted my first clay pigeon. Got my swing and lead down and had a blast shooting clays.
Next he broke out his 42 caliber "Pennsylvanian Old Betsy". I put out some one gallon water jugs at 80 yards went 2 for 2 and being the wise man walked away with my chest out.
So I woke up this morning with this Monkey on my shoulder needing a fix. Is there a support group for this addiction. I only did it once! I think I need a sponsor HELP!

I have been using one off and on for 30+ years. Three or four elk and 8 or so deer and a grouse or two. Ever tried a head shot on a grouse with a .54 well let me tell you it was a through and through no head and no popes nose!

Yeah, I think we might be the wrong group to help you with any hope of "recovery" from this addiction. I have come to terms with the "muzzleloader fix" as being permanent. I figure if the bore-swabbing part of it doesn't cure me, nothing will!

My addiction started back in '74, dad and I were shooting some clays out at the local pit, when two guys with .58 zouves showed up. I was fasinated. That Christmas dad got me a .45 cva derringer kit. we finished it up and got shooting it. couldn't hit anything with it, but had sooooo much fun. Had to have some more (kinda like that first kiss with that sweet young thing). Got a double 12 from 4 flags trading post in wichita (anyone been there?), addiction got stronger (a double 12 will do that ya know), then got .54 renegade and an 1851 navy. I was able to keep it at that for a while, but then I had to have more, got me two inlines and a A& H mountain rifle. Now the cravings getting bad again and that knight .45 mountain looks like it will satisfy......for a while:).
happy day to ya. Smell that sulphur, yeah baby!

Man I have not hunted with a flintlock in many years ....But I have alot of memories growing up in P.A with one .. One time I was hunting after Christmas and it was very cold and I was sneaking along a crab apple thicket and I spotted a doe lying in her bed , I layed the smoke pole on a fence post and leveled the sights and squeezed the trigger and click
cocked the hammer again and click
and one more time and click ...
she heard that one and jumped up and took off throwing me a white finger as she snorted for the next mile
So I am p----- off after freezing my arz off ...So I pick an old stump take aim and click booooooooom ....WTF BUT I have many memorial times when she did go off .....sure miss those days

It is a sickness! Nothing like the smell of black powder on a cold morning. The only time I get pissed is when I shoot at something and about the first 30 seconds of waving the smoke away trying to see if I got my animal
