I can't wait till the springers make it up to John Day Dam, the best tasting fish to come up the columbia in my opinion, next to the sockeye. Good luck carp hope you land a big one. Does anybody know if there is supposed to be a lot of jacks, seems to be more and more of the little fish. I don't mind them taste the same to me big or small.

http://www.fpc.org/currentdaily/HistFishTwo_7day-ytd_Adults.htm    This link should let you see current data for fish passage at Bonneville and Willamete Falls.  I fished there alot at one time, and can tell you it helps to follow this and time your trips when there is some activity at the dams.....springers tend to go in and out with the tide changes on the lower Columbia until the water temperature gets optimum for them, but will start surging up stream on tide change, once conditions improve. 
There are always some early fish, but action is generally slow for awhile yet.

There are two or so fish at the hatchery retention at the cowlitz barrior dam.  Those fish tend to hold up in the pool before they go in.  A friend of mine is down there fishing for them this morning so I will tell you what he comes back home with as if he is successful he will let me know. 

BTW, you can rougly tell where he is fishing from the background of the picture. Very nice looking fish in the pictures.
