First out west game mounts back
« on: March 12, 2012, 08:31:22 PM »
Got my baby wyoming antelope and my southern Idaho mule deer back tonight.  These were my first hunts hunting out west since moving here.  Still havent killed a big game animal in Wa.  Hopefully that changes this year....

Got a red head and a pheasant that will be dry next week and hung on the wall for this wall in my den.... I am running out of space....

Bendable wire frame.  I change her position randomly.  Makes for good conversation.

How many antelope did you see? I am heading to eastern wy this fall for antelope and deer. Is it very hard to determine the length of the horns on an antelope?

about 10-20% of what was there the year before.  The winter of 2010 there killed off 80% of the deer and antelope says the rancher/dnf officer/ and 3 guides I talked to.  I hunted private land.  Where they saw 500-750 last year everyday, we saw 38 during 8 days.  I ended up getting this lope on public land because I didnt want to kill one of the small ones off the ranchers place and couldnt locate a monster.  We saw 4 deer total the entire week there.  Also the elk numbers were way down.  It was very sad and the locals there were in shock and pretty bummed.  This past winter was not a bad winter so the numbers should be on the rise for this season and be better.  It is very easy to tell a monster lope from a small one.  If you're good in your stalking, you will have plenty of time to judge.  Stay low.  It's a lot of fun and I will be back soon.  Let me know what units/zones you are hunting, if they are the same as the ones I hunted, I would be willing to send all my maps that I bought.  I will not post what numbers I hunted, but if you and or anyone else wants to shoot me their numbers and they match with the maps I have, that are highlighted with animal locations, then I will mail them out to that person.  Let me know....
