Longview paper land
« on: July 29, 2008, 09:16:19 AM »
A lot of Longview land butts up against public land and there is little or no marking of the boundary.  Is written permission required to hunt this land?  If so, how do you go about getting it?  I’d hate to get cited for accidentally getting over the boundary.

It is your job to research the boundary, know the owner, and know the rules associated with any land.

Try your local County Assesor website and do a parcel search in the area. This will provide you with tons of info, map overlays, owner names etc..... Get real familiar with these sites, they will save your butt.

CP,
I used to live in Longview and there is a lot of Weyerhaeuser land that is open to the public.  There are a few things to keep in mind however:  They tend to close access from late summer right until the open of deer season.  The sporting goods stores in Longview (I like Bob's) sell a Weyerhaueser map for about $5. Also this is the Recreational access phone # that they update which has current closures and boundary lines :  1-866-636-6531.  If you have any other questions, fell free to PM me...good luck.

Thanks Snaggle,  a lot of good info there.

I was actually asking about Longview Paper LLC (aka Longview Fibre) land but I had the same question about Weyerhauser and they tend to have similar policies on land access.

It's now Longview Timberlands, owned by an outfit out of Canada, but that's neither here nor there, I guess.  Most of their stuff is gated, but they don't mind if you hunt their ground on foot.
