Thinking of retiring my old workhorse this year.  I have been using a Rem Model 700 7mm Mag since I was big enough to shoot it.  This gun has been through a lot with me.  Its starting to show a lot of wear... cant keep the rust off of the barrel, stock is faded and showing signs of water damage.  I feel like I could have taken better care of it, but it spent many nights out under the stars while I was in a tent, many years hunting on the wetside, and an entire summer in remote Alaska where we were both living in a tent. 

I would replace it with the gun I have really been wanting (Tikka T3 Lite also in 7mm), but I still am having a hard time letting go.

just do some upgrades to the Remington. new stainless barrel and a lightweight stock.

If it still shoots well just Cerakote the metal flat black and drop it in a Manners Elite Hunter stock. Like brand new and lighter!

I genarally hunt muzzleloader and pack in that heavy sucker every year on the high hunt. This year i purchased the multi deer tag. Needless to say i purchased a new sako a7 tecomate 300 wsm. Very light. 6.5 lbs. looking forward to be able to shoot more than 200 yards. Eveyone says pack light but i just can't seem to understand that concept. I like to have all the tools to give me the extra advantage. The guys i go with bring beat up old rifles and *censored*ty binos and give me a hard time for packing good quality binos and spotting scope. Pretty funny when we get there they use my gear more than i do. I always pack heavy but i am in great shape. The only thing that sucks is on the way out when your adding the extra 100 pounds with the animal.
