i give people false info all the time...

if i am on the river, there are regular locals like myself, and then there are.....well.... people who we dont want on "our" stretch of the river....

we put up no tresspassing signs, tell people to fish where there are the most snags (and tell them thats where the fish hide)..... we try to make it look like the river isnt worth fishing.... that way, its just a small handfull of regulars who dont poop in the bushes, leave trash everywhere, get drunk by 9am, bring thier dumb buddies and over-fish and crowd people out of the holes.... we even tell people if they dont have permission to be on "our" stretch of the river, the game warden/cops will get em..............

basically, we try to keep "our" stretch of the river "Locals Only"

if im on the salt, or on the lake, i am pretty honnest, i will give out some of my semi-secret rigs, if i see a strugling kid, or somebody i just feel bad for, i will hook him up with some gear and good tips....

if you are a respectful fisherman, and easy to get along with i will be honnest and help you out... otherwise... get out of my hole

Do you put up no tresspass signs on public land or land that is not yours?

Not really, it's a pretty simple question.  Are you posting land that you do not own?

Popcorn anyone as this could get good.

And as far as padding stats....  I fish where there are no fish / hunt where there is no game and sometimes get lucky.
It's a TIKKA thing..., you may not understand.

I really would like all my spots to be "locals only" but would never consider posting land that is not mine. TOTAL BS.

one of my favorite SW rivers has an unmarked WDFW access, the locals plaster it with "no trespassing" and "no boat launching" signs.  heard of one guy that got threatened by one of the local meatheads for fishing there.

that kind of behavior is up there with poaching in my book.

the "locals only" places i fish ARE private, posted land.  fortunately if i show up with a smile and good attitude they're usually more than happy to let me fish there.
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun

One of my all time favorites, was a guy  in a drift boat that offered up this info.......
Me: How are you guys doing ?
Him: We got 13
Me: 13? That's a pretty good day. ( I new this was a fabrication, we were 100 yards below the launch at Big Eddy)
Him: We were slaying them.
Me: Lets see your big fish?
Him: We didn't get any up to the boat.
Me: Where I come from, that's 0 not 13!

Since I am new to this salmon and steelhead fishing.  I do not lie as I expect people to help me.  On this SITE I blab everything because there are not that many people who fish compaired to the entire population on this site.  NOW, I will never tell anyone on things on actually fishing sites where 100% of the population fish.

yeah i know it doesnt look like the nicest thing to do, but heres the thing, its public access onto private land, the farmers are nice enough to allow people to walk down the dikes on their land, and while technically, the dike is county, the farmers land extends into the middle of the river.

public access via county dike onto private property

the farmers have threatened to shut down ALL access to the river regardless of county dike or not due to people trashing out the place, getting drunk by sunrise and fighting, driving through the farm fields to get to the river, in general, people just havent given 2 $#!^s about the land... when you have piles of garbage left in the bushes, people crapping in the cornfields, huge groups of people obviously trespassing on the other side of the river.... well the people who know the land owners kind of took charge to keep the river open to fishing and tried to turn things around so the farmer wouldnt say "sorry guys, find a new spot"

if you show up and wanna fish, and not be a moron, leave your beer cans, and cigarette boxes on the ground, and are respectful and act like a responsible decent person, then there wont be an issue

its not like we are trying to be dicks and not allow anybody into our spots, it may have sounded that way (was late when i typed it) but it really has gotten to the point where we were on kind of our 2nd and final warning about everybody getting booted off the river for the season because the landowners were sick of all the BS they had to put up with

do you blame us locals? if you dont believe this, walk into holiday sports and ask about the politics/drama/bs about fishing the samish river!

ok ok ok so this has gotten out of hand, it was about bsing fish stats to your buddies.... sorry guys didnt mean to cause an uproar

I have been invited up there to fish for kings two times and have never taken them up on it.  They even have access for me some place on the river.  Is it worth the weekend to go up there an fish?  Or do you have to know when the fish are in jso it will be action packed fishing?
