WE JUMPED ONE HERD IN 4 DAYS OF HUNTING BEHIND GATES. IF ANYBODY HAS SOME INFO THAT WOULD BE AWESOME. MAYBE I SHOULD GO FOR PRIVATE LAND? I REMEMBER SEEING SOME ELK IN FARM FIELDS, I'M ALL FOR SHARING THE MEAT IF SOMEONE HAS A CONNECTION???

I have the Toledo D which started today. I am heading down there tomorrow morning. I will let you know what I find or dont find. Did WDFW send you the packet of info? They did me which included a map, gate code info, and location of Weyerhauser land to hunt.

Its a great area for bow hunting.I think its worth a try for a few days. Then if not succesfull, pull out the rifle for the last day or 2.My bet is you will be into elk almost all day every day.Especially now that you have the gate codes and maps.Sure makes things a lot easier. If it was me I would check the areas I told you about. Then head in behind the gate by Finkas rd.If you dont see elk right off the bat.
There are a lot of elk in that area.Odds are excellent for getting a cow.As close to %100 as you can get if hunting with a rifle.I think that after the first day or so it will be pretty easy for you to decide the best approach.
I will say, that there is a very special cow in that area.Possibly last years calf also.If you see her you'll know what I mean.Ive seen her for the last 3 years. My brother in law was just a few feet short of being able to get a shot with his bow last year.
Be sure and put up pics and story.I'm pretty excited to see how your hunt goes.I think you'll be very pleasantly surprised.

I think I will take my bow the first day and then the rifle the next to or three days that I can sneek in. I think I know what you mean by the "special" elk.

I wondered the same thing when I first looked.Because the regs say any archery tag.But looked a little further into the regs and its any weapon. That Master Hunter course has its benefits.
Good luck,
Have fun,
