No doubt Carp, it's cool that so many members were drawn this year, I can't wait to see all the pic's. Hope I can post a few myself.

My post's from the last 2 days haven't gone through, I'm beginning to think I've been blocked!  :yike: I'm going to post this before I do another big write up just to have it disappear into hyper space.

Good I'm still alive on here.  From the lack of post's I'd say everyone else had the same kind of day as me. I thoroughly enjoyed the sunshine, even spent part of the day hunting in a t-shirt, but no bears! We started out between Granite Falls and Lake Roesiger. Hiked in a couple of miles, checked some reprod area's, checked out a few over grown spur roads, nothing. There were some old peel's but nothing fresh. No poo, no tracks, nothing. We hiked in behind a few gate's, drove in behind some where my key worked then got out and hiked. Nothing. We ended up the day up by Spada Lake, wanted to see if there was any sign up higher near the snow. Nope! Nothing. I'd say we put at least 7 miles on the boots. It was surprising how little animal activity we saw at all. I think we only saw 1 chipmunk all day! I ran into another member from the site, washelkhtr, and he hadn't seen any sign either. Oh well, our seasons continue. I'm going to post some pics of the tree damage I found in a small area about 30 yards in diameter. Looks like it was from last year at least. There is also a pic of a pile of rodent bones that the tree peeler probably pooped out while straining to peel the bark.  :chuckle: I have some maintenance to do on my chainsaw today, then I'll probably hit it tomorrow before work. Good luck everyone.

Well someone named bearbait should know. What is it then, porcupine? If so then that area must be overloaded with the prickly buggers. There are hundreds of these types of peels all over that area.

Looks like bear to me. From what I understand, porcupine chip away the bark and bear peel the bark. I think you've found the right area, now find the bear
