I've been saying a lot of prayers lately!
Whatever I've done to piss off the bear god's I'm sorry. My karma can't be totally bad because I had a great trip to Westport.
I've been seeing sign everywhere I go, I just can't seem to find the bears themselve's. Today is my last full day to hunt, the rest of the week will just be short trips before work. I just need 1 dumb one to show itself.
Has anyone ever seen an aspen peel? Yesterday I saw 7 aspens in a row peeled spread out over about 150 yard line.

Yep. I know he hunted hard. I went out twice and enjoyed being along for the ride. Ripper is a stand up guy.

Yup, I just finished eating tag soup!
I went out yesterday morning and sat in the rain in a dark hole full of fresh peels. The skeeters were so bad I couldn't believe it. Even with a head net on it was unbearable. I stuck it out for 2 hours then I had to go to work. My plan was to work till 6 then head out and hunt till dark. Well 2 hours into my shift I started having chest pains. I had aortic valve replacement surgery 2 years ago so this was a pain that I've felt before. I immediately left work and went to the Everett clinic. Needless to say bear season was over. I spent about 3 hours being checked out and I'm happy to say the ticker is good. I have Costochronditis, or inflammation of the joint between the ribs and the breast bone, and ribs to spine. I swear it hurts as bad as when I had Periocarditis which is inflammation of the heart liner. That was the most painful thing I've ever experienced.
Anyway, it was a great hunt, I'm glad I had the opportunity to get out in the spring and hunt. I learned a lot about bear hunting, and all the new area's I didn't know existed. I can't wait till August1. I have 3 area's that I will be scouting all summer long. I will post a pick of the biggest bear poop I have ever seen! It made my butt hurt just looking at it!
To bad it's located in an area that's 10.5 miles in from the gate, and it there is a lot of elevation change. It would be a very difficult mountain bike ride in and out. The pack out would be murderous. If anyone wants to tackle it pm me and I'll tell you where it is. Thank all of you so much for the support. It's so cool to be a part of this forum with all the good people giving tips and advice. It is disappointing to not kill a bear, but the knowledge gained is invaluable. Congrats to all the people who did score, I'm happy for you. I will definitely continue to put in for this tag, it was a great time. Mark
