No....that's obvious. What I am saying is "I don't see what a cheap .22 from a yard sale has anything to do with it."

well you're right it doesn't really have anything to do with it. Truth be told the .22 just went off without anyone touching it(believe it or not). The reason I left that detail out is because it wouldn't have been an issue if it wasn't loaded in the first place...which was our dumb mistake. trust me, my buddy and I still talk about how dumb we were.

Out fowlin with my best childhood friend one day... we raised up on some birds but they flared and we sat back down. Couple minutes later a huge flock came over and locked on. Biggest flock of the day times 3, it was the moment of truth. A tornado of birds fell from the sky. It was time... TAKE'EM! As we started to stand my pal reached for his gun and...BOOM! Blind had a skylight and every bird lived to see another day.
Don't forget to put the safety on between flocks or your blind could be roofless. He jerked for the gun and back went the trigger. Could have been much worse. I took a valuable lesson from that day.

Forgot my License and Tag. Luckily I only got as far as Monroe before the image of them on top of the TV came to mind. Lost about 40 minutes...
There has to be something worse...

well there isn't a one of us that don't have a list of dumb things if ya hunt much.My first blacktail was a 5x5,I was stoked as a young lad foresure,I gutted it,my dad took a few pics, loaded up the deer and headed home..Hrs later started unloading gear, and I asked my dad if he took my gun in the house....Then I see the look dads give ya when they might wonder if said milkman, might have spent a little time with mom while dad was away..So hrs later we arrived back to the location I gutted the deer, and there was my rifle still leaning against the tree ...boy was I happy it was there

1. Forgot ammo
2. Didn't wake up early enough. A lot of times.
3. Went hunting with cotton and it stormed. Almost froze.
4. Slept in back of truck in -30 to -40
5. Not aggressive enough
6. Quit hunting a 190 buck with days still available
7. Looking for "where the grass is greener" when it's green here
8. Probably many many more

Forgetting the toilet paper sometimes ranks right up there. Had a buddy who would use his t-shirts when that happened. Ripping strips off them. You could always tell what kind of day he had when he came back to camp with a shorty T on.

Thought I lost my keys (even checked all the pockets in my pack, coats, pants, etc, or so I thought) after shooting a deer. 3 mile hike out to the truck, packing the deer, ....long story short, took three days to get the truck out, found my keys in my pack about 4-5 months later (during spring cleaning) in some small pocket I really didnt realize was there.
If ya cant laugh at yourself
!
What do I win now?

August, many years ago - took my 4 wheeler way back in behind a gate to one of my honey-holes. Parked the bike, took helmet, jacket off (hot August day after work) and started my walk in. About 1 1/2 miles in (still hunting) a large bear stood up in the bushes, facing me, not 15 feet away from me. All I could see of it was from the neck up. I froze. The wind was in my face, so he couldn't smell me.
I had the wrong foot forward and my rifle down. I was using my H & R, break open 30-30 win.
It was at this point that I realized all my extra rounds were in my jacket, all I had was the one round loaded.
After an amazingly long amount of time, he dropped back down into the brush and continued foraging. I brought the rifle up as I put my left foot forward toward where he was. He stood back up and I put he front sight tip just under his jaw and squeezed. It dropped straight down and I thought "Oh f&%k, now what. Grabbed the barrel of my rifle and held it like a bat, moved around the bushes to get a look to see if the bear was there. Saw a small lump of fur through the leaves, not moving, so then hauled ass back to my bike and extra rounds.
Every rifle I own now has those shell holders that slip onto the stock.
