I would like to say I have enjoyed this thread it was really nice to just pass things so interesting along without the other stuff coming into it. Keep the tribal storys coming with names of animals edible plants and roots it;s very interesting to follow.

:chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:  I've done that!  When I was down there in AZ and NM they look at you like you're crazy for asking for butter or peanut butter. :o :o :o  It was all good and great til my cousin told me be careful, them Apache women can put spells on you and you'll never leave. :yike: :yike: :yike:  Glad I never got that far but, another cadet did and he transfered from CO to AZ right after graduation. :dunno: :dunno: :dunno:

The parade starts at 10am I believe and if you go be there at least by 9 with a lawn chair and umbrella because some years it gets hot real fast and all the good spots get taken real fast.  If you go try and sit near the clinic and you'll get all the good stuff that gets handed out.

If you stay they provide lunch, usually salmon and other side dishes.

grand mound, wa.?  I was going to head that way the other week for a conference but changed my mind at the last minute.  Nap time is always good after loading up on indian tacos. :chuckle:

Yes, it is free.  I made the mistake of helping the Cultural Center a couple of years ago and I didn't get anything to eat after I was done serving. :bash:  Never did or do that again. :bdid:

Here's a video that made me  :cryriver:  to see my little girls right now.  For those of you who don't know these guys won the hand drum contest at the 2012 Gathering of Nations pow wow in Albuquerque, NM this past weekend.  They mixed contemporary with traditional and came up with one heck of a song.  Man, I wish I went this year. :bash:  Always, next year.

What do you know found a song singing about this type of incident and they placed 2nd this year at G.O.N. 2012.  Another awesome song.

Just to get back on the frybread discussion...

The only good frybread is Navajo Frybread and the same with Navajo Taco! My mom-in-law makes the best. Big as a plate, fluffy thick, and smiles at you every time it comes out of the pan. MMMM mmmm mmmm!
