How many moose preference points?
«
on:

I'm curious... This question is for all of of you guys who have either been drawn for moose or know someone who has. About how many preference points did you have built up before you were drawn? I'm gaining ground and wonder how close I may be getting. Thanks for any help.

I had 10 going into this years draw. That would include the 1 for this year. MAx would have been 13. In researching my hunt I've talked to a couple of people who have drawn with very few points(<2) and I have talked to others who waited 29 and 30 years to draw, so it really comes down to luck, although the more points you have the better your odds are.

My youngest son was drawn last year for a youth tag with 1 point plus the draw while my oldest son and I have been applying since he was 9 we each have 10 point's now. I was alternate a few years ago but everyone picked up there tags
....I think a lot depends on if you put in for the bull only hunts or if a cow will do you would have a much better chance we only put in for the bull tags

I went in with 9 points this year
Can't draw an elk tag, but I'll settle for a moose.

I was picked last year with 7 points and talked to others in the same area and they had 2-10. It is very random!

Hello,
I am new to this site and I see there are quite a few very lucky people. I am also a "very, very lucky" person as I drew the Selkirk tag with just (2) points. I am an elk bowhunter and deer rifle hunter(hunt partners preferance). I plan on going after my moose with my bow on the 1st of October!

You are about the third person I've heard of drawing that tag with only 2 points, unbelievable.

I was maxed out at 13 as well Rufous.
How many of us on this site can say they have a trophy class whitetail buck, mule deer buck, bull elk, and moose hanging on their wall and all from Washington? I'm hoping to be one of them soon. Will need to find that blacktail buck after this.
And to think some of you guys laughed about "The Law Of Compensation"
