Republic Turkeys
« on: April 26, 2012, 04:40:26 PM »
I'll be headed back up to Republic area for work in the next couple weeks and of being the season I am going to sneak away for turkeys in the morning and maybe a couple afternoons. Just wondering if the national forest within an hr of town holds birds.

If you were going up there late next week what elevation would you be looking at? South slopes and long draws?

Thanks!

The republic area is a frost pocket..Spring comes late in this area still look at low elevations in May up to snowline.  I love hunting Republic Area in May. :)

A friend of mine returned from Republic on day 3 of the season and there were turkeys all over the place he said, even in the snow he chased some where he was up to his knees they were just booking right accross the snow, he said it was really easy to get his two birds since there was no one else hunting them !!
