NE wash deer hunting? Tree stands or groung and pound?
« on: May 03, 2012, 11:30:51 AM »
So after hunting a week last year in ferry county I am thinking treestands may be the way to go in september.  Any thoughts on this strategy?  Also it seems bears are moving from wild berries to what food source?  September time frame.

DEFINITELY tree stands for Whitey Bucks.

Try a distressed rabbit call for bears up there in the NE corner.  After we get outta our tree stands, we'll do this during the middle of the day or early afternoon before we head back to the stands for the evening hunt.  Hit the call, and then wait a little bit.  We've had them come charging in on a dead run, and others have taken their time and were sneaky in their approach.

Thanks et1702!  Hadnt thought about rabbit call.  Seen 4 bears last time and I wasnt hunting bear!   :'(  I love that country, sick of wetside anymore. My buddy talked to 2 front stuffers who claimed they watched 5 wolves take cow down at feeding/roundup field off trout creek rd. I saw many free range cattle but no signs of kill?  Hmm.

Everyone has methods they like best, but stands and blinds kill the most deer for us.
