hunting lincoln tomorrow
« on: May 03, 2012, 06:00:19 PM »
I'm heading back up to the lincoln unit tomorrow, no luck so far in seeing any sign of tree damage or bear for that matter. Any suggestions? Been on the 550 and side tracked from there in a few spots.  I've tried a couple of calls as well. All suggestions are welcome.  If you see a silver FJ Cruiser parked along the road that would be me.  Mike.

In another week or so you should start seeing a lot more freshly peeled trees. When you do, hunt those areas. For now I'd look for green grass if you're not seeing the peeled trees yet.

I haven't been out for a few weeks. I had to go to MO for a funeral. But before I left 3 weeks ago I found a clearing that 1 had been hitting pretty hard, alot of stumps but no barked trees. I never did see him. I did see 1 in the back of a white truck. Didn't look very big but I only saw it from a distance

I hunted most of the day saturday spending most of my time hunting between bunker creek and the 550 road.  I haven't seen any sign or peels in that area at all.  I think if I get down there again I will spend my time further west in the unit. :dunno:

I might try to spend the whole day down there tomorrow (tuesday 22nd).  I haven't seen much sign in the southeast portion of the unit, anyone have recommendations/suggestions on where there has been recent bear activity?
I have mainly been walking the gated roads off of the 550 and off of bunker creek, but havent seen any sign.
thanks,

E

I hunted my butt off last week and only saw a track and some scat. I have only seen one truck in there the whole week I was there.

I've been in the north off of harp road and haven't really seen much. I'll be back this Thursday till Monday. I also have a few cams out so I'll make a game plan after I see my cams

I spent all day in there today, dawn till dusk.  I went up the 7000 road, crossed over to the 9500 and went up to the active logging areas.  I went on several hikes trying to find fresh sign but didn't cross any tracks, poo or peels.  Very wet and windy up there.  Tried calling in several areas also with no luck.  No new growth on the trees up there yet either.  In the evening I went back down the the 550 road and went on a couple hikes.  No sign.  There seems to be more new tree growth in the lower elevation.  Very discouraging for the amount of time I've spent down there so far.  Probably my last hunt down there this season.
