22 mag fans

Great for Bobbies if you want to have one mounted.  Puts them down quick and saves your taxi. one heck of a lot of work.  You can now get 22 mag with the V-max or AcuTip that achieve some devestating speed and performance for longer shots at varmits.  Expensive for rimfire, but cheap for varmit rounds! 

Met a trapper in BC last time up there that carries one to finish off lynx and wolves.  Says he used to carry the 22 hornet and will never go back.  Much better on preserving hides while finishing them off quick.

I've had a Marlin 925M for years and it has taken it's share of Rockchucks and a hand full of coyotes. It is wicked accurate with CCI Maxi-Mag +V's. The rifle is as basic as it gets, one of those ones that you aren't concerned about and really don't care where or how they ride in a rig, it's been a good quick access truck rifle.

My favorite rifle for walking/shooting sage rats. Much better results after replacing the 22 long rifle with this marlin 22 mag.

Ok  so the 22 mag has a following of sorts, what do you think of terminal performance??

I think terminal performance is great. Kinda like, "One Call, that's all" !! Everything I've shot with mine was dead in one well placed shot. I shot a
Bobcat with my 223 and I didn't kill it. Finished it with my 22 mag.

The 22 mag is a great round. IMO a better all around cartridge than the HMR. Carries more weight, therefor energy. Since it is larger it leaves a bigger hole when it doesn't get a chance to fully expand, while the HMR has a tendency to either slip through tissue like a laser or release all it's energy on impact. The HMR has a bit better range, but at that range I personally would be hesitant to shoot a living creature out of fear of just wounding it.

The HMR nearly put the WMR out of business. The WMR ruled the magnum rimfire world then the HMR came out and gave it a BIG smackdown. Better, more efficient ammo, far better accuracy and much better range. Then the ammo makers stepped up production of better WMR ammo and now we have awesome stuff on both ends.

I don't know where you can get a box of top grade 410 at 50 rounds for $16 but let us know.

While the 22WMR is a very nice round, if you reload and have a .223 Rem, you can duplicate the 22WMR with ease.

That's the way I went. I got lucky in that the rilfe shoots to same horizontal POI with most all loads I shoot in it.
Nosler 35 grain lead free over top of Blue Dot run through my GemTec M-4 can, very quite and hits like a 22WMR

The .223 isn't as light, handy and fast handling, or as inexpensive to shoot as most .22 mags. It was designed for a simpler task, it fills the nitch bellow the .223. On top of that, it isn't as loud. Allot of +++'s  for the the .22 Mag. My .223's are used way beond what a .22 Mag is capable of.

Awesome little round. I got a Anshutz 141, and a Ruger 77 LSS medium heavy snout. For what they are, 22 mag is a GIANT killer....
