Elk Archery season keeps getting earlier?
« on: May 23, 2012, 02:16:35 PM »
Ok I know nothing about why this is happening or what can WE do to oppose this.  I know how it affects hunting the rut but what about land being closed due to weather/fire etc. only to open after archery season. Rain seems more likely later in sept.  Personally sept.14-30 would be great.

Well, good luck with that. It'll get earlier for the next three seasons and then go back to the 8th-20th. It's a great season anyway you look at it. If you want to hunt later, buy a muzzy tag and hunt with your bow.

Muzzy season and areas are horrible in comparison. :chuckle: Pianoman why do you say earlier for next three seasons and then back to sept 8-20?  Do you know or joking. Im ok with dates but liked em better before.  Last year for example lands were closed as soon as season started!  Rain came at end of season and presto, OPEN.

Next year it starts on the 3rd-15th, and the year after on the 2nd-14th. Then back to starting on the 8th-20th. No joking. There have been several threads on this topic.

I understand what you are saying Pianoman but it's speculation at best really. Who knows what the next set of three year dates will be when it comes to WDFW.

Because the seasons have been set and that's what they're going to be.

The way they have the early season set up is very tough mainly because fire danger closes many of the better units for the early season.  I still will take my chances with my bow any day over any of the other choices that are given to us.

My bad, I wasn't aware they had set the dates for 2015-2017.
