Archery advice...
« on: June 02, 2012, 08:19:04 PM »
Hey guys, so I got my first chance to shoot at 40 yards today. I was shocked to find that my groups were about as tight at 40 yards as they are at 20. Is that normal, or am I just good at this?

Need more practice still, going after burrs starting in September. I'd feel like terrible if I winged one, or worse if I angered one and it ate me.

Keep at it to make sure your on in any situation(animal body position, wind, above and below elevation...)and study anatomy so you know proper placement of shot as vitals vary on different game...

Some Some people r just naturally able to shoot well :-)

I often times shoot better at 30+ then I do under 30. Just makes a guy slow down a bit more. Glad you are having fun, keep at it :IBCOOL:

I have green colored pins at 20, 50.,&70.yards. I seem to do better at those ranges  then others. My eye must like that color.

I shoot all green pins and love it. Remember to keep focused on the spot , stare at the spot and pull through the the shoot and keep your bow arm up till you see the arrow hit the spot and you will always be a good shot as long as your equipment is tuned well.

Often if you start out shooting at the longer distances your groups will be better.  Mostly because you're not tired from shooting dozens of arrows.  So, yes, you can have similar groups at all yardages.

I usually sight in my long distances on separate days from the shorter distances just for that reason.
