I don't get it- I keep seeing people draw more than 1 elk tag and I thought only 1 elk could be harvested- So that means lots of the draw tags are not going to get used.  :dunno:

exactly, or they will cheat and kill 2 elk. Not at all saying you guys that drew will do that in anyway shape or form. I'm just saying it could happen and probably will in some cases. Those second elk tags will probably go to waste when they should have gone to guys that didn't get chit. I like the idea of once you draw a deer or elk tag (the first tag they draw) they should be kicked out of the draw system so they don't draw multiple tags.

You don't draw tags. You draw permits. You can only buy one elk tag (unless you're a Master Hunter and get drawn for a 2nd elk tag in that category).

Just thought I'd clarify that.

In my opinion, it would be best if we were only allowed to apply in one category per species each  year. Odds would be a whole lot better, for all hunts. There's no reason why a person can't make a decision each year whether to go for a bull permit or a cow permit. And a buck or a doe.

But of course the state would bring in a lot less money, so that's the only reason they don't and won't do it that way.

Well, I had 15pts for Moose and 9 for elk......not like I wanted to use them all in one year..... Yes, I wish I didnt draw the Margaret Cow Tag and someone else could use it, cause most likely I won't, since I have the Toutle Tag....But if you dont put in for everything you can draw anything..... it's not my rules....

Dr. Death they meant if you draw a Quality Bull Elk tag you should be kicked out of the draw for Bull and Antlerless.  Which I agree.  They dont' mean if you draw a Quality Bull elk tag you shouldn't be able to draw other tags for other species.

I think if a person draws two tags for the same species they should be allowed to fill both of those permits.  Just my  :twocents:  Especially since that person paid for that permit.  We certainly pay in enough money that we earned getting the chance to fill both.  I would even be okay if they said you had to buy a second elk tag in order to fill both permits.  In Idaho you can do this.  Like I said we paid for those permits.  If you draw both you should be able to fill both.   :twocents:

I agree with the tag situation, you end up burning all your points and dont even use the permit. I wish it did kick me out for the cow tag and let someone else have it. I like your idea even better, since you pay for the permit, you should get to fill it! Thats a great one!

The thing I don't understand is when you apply it says- hunt choice 1 hunt choice 2 hunt choice 3 hunt choice 4.  I thought if you didn't get your first choice you might get the next. I didn't realize you could draw several hunt choice permits for the same category. Makes me wonder how many of the permits are not going to be used because the hunter has already tagged out on a previous hunt. And how many of the permits could have gone to other hunters.

Dr. Death- sorry for changing topic on your thread. I didn't even put in for permits the last couple years because funds have been tight. I hope you have a great season and fill all your tags and have some great memories from it.

I wasn't trying to turn any attention away from your success, I wish you the best on your hunts. I was just saying what was on my mind at the time, of course there are better ways to do this draw system. I just hate to see tags go to waste.
