49' Moose Tag
« on: June 10, 2012, 08:39:37 PM »
I drew a 49' unit Moose tag.  I am wondering if anyone would be willing to share any information they could. Please PM me if you want to keep the spot/area between us.  Any suggestions would be much appreciated.  Thanks in advance!

I have seen some big moose on the actual ski resort.  There is a road that take you all the way to the top of 49 that I would check out.

Soooooooo, I'm stoked for this hunt.... My dads going with me, doesnt hunt anymore (73), but enjoys getting out and taught me all I know. He always wanted to go on a moose hunt, so I guess this is for both of us... I want to thank those who have PM'd me with some great info, I will be in touch with all of you, and hope that everyone on this site gets to enjoy this as much as I've enjoyed sharing your hunts. About me....well, I hope to shoot a P&Y bull on film, so I have some lofty goals but think they can be met. I will do my best to keep a good log for everyone throughout this adventure!!!!!! Sean

I can't wait to hear your story! I am in a similar position! My dad (71) and his LONG time friend (76) and hunting buddy applied as a group for the 65 or older cow tags and they were lucky enough to get the only 2 for that same area! They are so excited to have the chance at a moose of any kind....they sound like kids again when they talk about it!  I am trying to gather as much info for them as well and hope to tag along and film the hunt. They are both disabled hunters and can only hike a small distance. I feel like the parent excited for their kid to shoot something....I'm sure like my dad has felt about me in the past....I can't wait!

Flowery trail road toward the ski resort.  Lots of old clear cuts up there.

So, who knows the magic way to tell a good scoring Moose? My goal is to get a P&Y bull.

Here's what I've gathered..3 brow tines & good paddles, what other things do I look for? How wide are their ears, is that a good way to tell what the spread is?

If you've never seen one in real life, you'll know when you see a big one. I've seen some really big ones and small ones. Here's an example of your moose you'll wanna kill this year.
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............
