Man, been here a week already.....lets see, very weird day for sure....this morning called a bull in twice to 20 yards but he just wouldnt show himself....so I tell me dad lets go wait for Shane and come back in and try calling him up into the timber...Shane shows up, we head back into the area, just opposite side of swamp...start calling, bull answers, bull is just pacing back and forth in swamp...we decide to push him some....move in on him, and he keeps calling and pacing...we end up in his living room, he walks past us in the willows about 25 yards, just getting glimpes of him and then turns and goes straight away from us across the road and up through the clearcut where we tried to get him to go this morning, he was a good bull, probably 45", but no rifle...saw another this afternoon but just got a glimps of him also and he was gone like a ghost, not a peep....so we headed out back to the truck my dad is about 20 yards ahead of us...we get about 200 yards from the truck and I look up towards my dad and look past him down the road and see a toad standing in the road staring at us...panic, whistle at my dad, slap Shane to stop, try to get the rifle and just as I do he turns and is gone....
....ugh...one of those days...Shane just told me today that you"ll know when you want to kill one, when chaos and panic sets in....thats was tonight....oh well. back at it tomorrow...we are tired...congrats to everyone else who've tagged out!

I was hunting Woodward Meadows up in Cottonwood had the same thing happen to me. He had cows w/him and would not come in the open. That evening nothing I though I bumped them out of there. The next morning at shooting hr I made 3 calls from the road side of the meadow. He came right out w/2 cows and a small bull. I saw he wasn't a shooter so I didn't call anymore. He came 300yds across the meadow right to me without me making one call. Keep at it and injoy the fun before the work starts.

Thanks Bro, I was trying to forget about it...
So I'll just skip right to the good part...We see a good bull from probably a mile away.... a hour or two later we end up in the same basic area...Shane makes a call, Im just taking in the view and he says, "here he comes", I look up the ridge and see a pig running at us...throw the glasses up and holy sheet see horns and points everywhere....panic button goes off...Shane says he's got HUGE brows and at least 2 per side....I toss my bow and say, this is it....get the 300 ready....we now cant see him but can hear him.....there is a cut bank right above us and a road in front of us, he either has to run down the cut bank and end up behind us and come out on the road in front of us...perfect! we can hear him walking and then silence.........hmm......
....we look at each other and wonder whats up.... I ask Shane if we should peek up over the bank, I guess he says, wind is going all over, I take one step, and he explodes from about 10 yards away on the cut bank.....I run up the bank expecting him to be there or running the way he came....but no he is gone into the only timber there....I was and still am CRUSHED!
Thats hunting..... I need a drink!

Good luck. Try to stick with your bow, if that is what you want to get one with. It sounds like the moose are relatively cooperative. I know how the excitement can make a grab for the rifle easy.
Good luck this weekend.
