Me and the clients had a good shoot yesterday
They lauched over 300 arrows
Plus a first timer got his first fish! I love it
Nothing is better in guiding world then help a person get there first animal or fish in this case
I have 2 new shooters next week as well! Cant wait! Weather needs to turn hot!

Due to extremely hot and dry weather, conditions aren't good for fishing or hunting. The Tallahatchee River which is normally at the 16 to 20 foot level is only rated at the 8 ft level. We were forced to go 35 miles downstream to launch the boat, then we had to motor all that distance back upriver to the house where I am staying. Hold on I see moving.....

It was just deer coming through..... I am sitting over a waterholes watching for hogs in Mississippi. Hog hunting has been tough it is so hot they are only moving late at night and I wasn't having much luck. I have been watching just before dark and right at daylight, tried sitting sitting most of one day, that was miserable and unproductive. The second evening I had a shot, but am using a borrowed gun and when I had closed the bolt it hadn't loaded. I zeroed the crosshairs on a pig and click.

Back to the trip up the river, we set out on a good speed, Chip said we needed to go 29-30 to get past the flying carp before they jumped. He explained they are a serious problem and we have to keep our speed up or risk getting hit by them when they jump, for some reason they jump when they hear a boat motor running.

I have always enjoyed dangerous and exciting things so this sounded like fun trying to avoid these flying carp. We hadn't gone far when we got in a school and they started jumping. We hit one with the bow of the boat and one practically hit the motor but we made it past unscathed. Further upriver we weren't so lucky, one carp hit an empty seat and broke the back off. Holy smokes, glad I wasn't sitting in that seat. Anyway we got into numerous schools, hit sseveral with the bow, I got slapped on the back by one but it wasn't a direct hit, so it didn't hurt. We also ran aground numerous times and had to get off the sand and we hit several submerged logs, it's a wonder we didn't rip the motor off the back of the boat.

Last night when I was sitting right at dark a big herd of hogs came in, I did my best to pick out a bigger one and got the crosshairs on him as good as I could, boom, pigs scattered but my pig got mixed into the massive flight out of sight and I lost track of him as they ran out of sight. I texted Chip who told "do not go in there looking till daylight in the morning, too many water moccasins". Ok, no problem waiting, I have seen them swimming in the waterhole. Sun is up good now, so I am going looking for my hog.

Pig down...... He didn't go far, too bad I couldn't go in the brush after him last night. Will try to salvage him.

Another photo....
He was 180 to 200 pounds guesstimate, and all black, every hog on the place seems to be the black long haired russian type, exactly like I wanted.
