I'm with everybody else, Savages aren't typically pretty but they always seem to shoot.
I have always been more of a "functional beauty" type of guy, so I love Savage! The most accurate gun I've ever owned was a bone stock Savage LRPV in 22-250. The barrel didn't sit even in the stock and the action had some tooling marks, but it would regularly print 5 shot groups in the .1" range at 100 yards.

I didn't even bother bedding the action to make the barrel sit straight. I just left it alone.
Of the 19 Savages I've had (I still have 10 of them) all of them have shot .5 MOA or better with a little load development. The good news is that with a little work you can fix the poor fit and finish. It's a lot more difficult to fix a poor shooting gun.
