New backcountry graduation present!!! Need some advice...
« on: June 20, 2012, 11:37:46 PM »
Well today was the day I graduated from my nursing program, finally. This afternoon before graduation my grandmother visiting from IL came to my apartment with my graduation present, I was floored when she pulled out a vortex viper 20-60x 80 spotting scope with a vortex pro gt tripod. I originally had asked for some kifaru accessories for my graduation present  and was stunned when she pulled the spotting scope out. I love the spotter and cant wait to get into the high country and glass some open country, gone are the days of trying to decide whether that bull is a 5 or 6 point and how big that bear really is while looking through my binos. I tried the tripod and it seemed to work well, I also tried several weeks earlier at wholesale sports a kruger tripod with a pistol grip pan head. Does anyone have any experience with this particular vortex model tripod? Would I be better off trading it in for something else. I like the configuration thus far and it appear it will work fine as my first tripod just looking for some feedback. Also has anyone built a cheap homemade digiscoping setup? Vortex offers one but it seems spendy and I figured someone must have come up with a cheaper alternative. Thanks so much for feedback guys.
