6.5x284
« on: June 22, 2012, 02:14:47 PM »
Well it's getting close the barrell is in and it's getting the break fitted . with the long action we should get good case capacity , so in the next couple of weeks we should have the load worked up . 140vld's

Good deal. I have really been putting some thought into getting a 6.5x284. If I do another custom gun that would be my pick.

I'm shooting 140 VLD's out of a 6.5 creedmoor they are awesome.  Have fun with the new gun.

Sweet caliber.  Can't justify owning one with a swede already in the safe though...

Here she is! Sorry for the pics there off my cell phone . 6.5 x284 capacity is 6+1 pushing the 140 vld at 3190 muzzle based off a 700 long action , hart barrell and timminey trigger , the stock is a bell carolson and is supported by a black hawk bipod .

How long of snout you got to get that velocity? Don't see many loads over 3000 fps, let alone another 200 fps? NIce rig though. Later

Very nice!

RL 17 gives some surprising velocities.  And in my experience, excellent accuracy.  Let us know how it shoots.

I had a chance to shoot her . Fricken assume !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8-10 mph crosswind at 408 yards -2 degree angle set the turret to 400 and held full wind value . first shot was 3inches high dead center on a clean barrell ( coulda been me the trigger is pretty light ) the next four rounds where inside off a coffee cup one inch right of dead center ! I think that will work 1/2 moa in the wind with a semi rookie behind the trigger .
