Hunter introduction
« on: May 19, 2025, 08:48:34 PM »
Hi Guys and Gals, this is the first time for me posting on any kind of forum but since I've been reading this forum and receiving good information for probably a decade I figured it was probably time.                                                                    I am going to be 59 in June and have always lived in Washington. My dad was a hunter so I got started at a young age and besides a short break between 14 to 19 I’ve been hunting.                                                                                                My first passion was hunting Blacktails (which I still love) but once I discovered hunting Elk I was really hooked. I was able to harvest my first Elk in 1997 at Mt. Saint Helens in the Smith Creek area. It was another 7 years till the second one came along which led to a pretty good stretch of success around Mt. Adams with the Muzzleloader going 6 for 8 but there were several cows in that stretch.               When that unit changed to 3 point or better I moved to the coast with my bow. I had a pretty productive 7 or so years there with some cows and a couple branched bulls.                                                                                                                   In 2017 I drew a White River quality archery tag. We got all the way to Green Water or Green River before we found out there was a active forest fire and the hunt was pretty much closed down. I got my points back but I drew the tag the next season and had a jump on the scouting.                                                                            By the time my season started we had many scouting trips in over two summers and had two pack goats.                                                                                       The hunt was Great and I was able to take my first 6 point. We filmed the trip and put it on the Tube. My editing skills were definitely lacking and I produced a real snooze fest with some excitement.                                                                             We’ve been hunting with pack goats every since that quality hunt and have put a few of them on the Tube as well. Our filming talent is still lacking but we like having something besides pictures to look back on.                                                          I’m sitting on 18 points in Bull hunts and have switched back to Muzzleloader a few years back to draw the hunt I want to draw. I might have a question or two coming up but first I wanted to introduce myself.                                                               Sorry for the long winded introduction but thanks for all the good reading throughout the years!!

Cool intro. The only way to get better at filming & editing is to keep doing it, if you enjoy it.

Howdy!!
It is better to be consistently incorrect than inconsistently correct...

My level of sarcasm depends on your level of stupidity...

Sarcasm makes smart people laugh and stupid people mad.

Welcome!

Newish here myself, I think this forum is filled with like-minded folks but (I’ve noticed) are also willing to challenge opinions (or be challenged)…

Lots of good or… great stuff here!
