This years finds
« on: November 19, 2008, 10:15:19 PM »
These are the only sheds I've ever found, both this year. The BT was back in Sept. and the spike bull was on the last day of late buck. The dark stuff all over the base of the elk shed is proof that bears really do $h1t in the woods. They were about 200 yards apart.

I do find myself looking at the ground a lot more than I should be while hunting.

A blacktail shed on the westside is a rare find! They usually get eaten fast from the critters. Nice find.

I only found two this year, but I didn't look very hard.

One BT in the Capitol Forest

and one elk in Winston.

A blacktail shed on the westside is a rare find!

A bt shed on the Eastside would be an even rarer find.  :IBCOOL:

It was a pretty lucky find. As I was walking away from my trail cam I just happen to glance down next to the trail I was on and see the base of a branch sticking out of the fir needles. I took a couple more steps before It struck me as a little different looking than the normal base of a tree branch.
So I go back to look, sure enough it's the base of an antler. It was buried under the fir needles and had a branch laying across it. The only part of the whole antler that was above ground was the base and the very tip of one tine (G2?).
Due to where it was, I have to guess it was not dropped last spring, maybe the year before. I have a hard time believing it's any older.
