I do some silly things but I have yet to actually attempt to grind with the blade on backwards... yet  :roll eyes:

One other important tip if you're sure its on the correct way and its still feeding slowly, you may not have screwed it together tight enough. Some times I don't put on that outer ring thingy-part (as my 4 year old calls it) tight enough and it clogs on silver seam. Tighten it up and you're good to go

Tip:  Just had a couple that cut up wild game professionally tell me to use cured bacon as my fat next time in my burger because it lasts longer in the freezer and gives the hamburger a smokey taste.  I had already did my elk so will try it as soon as cut up a deer.  Sounds good to me....

That's all I use for fat now.  Cheapest to buy bacon ends, or sometimes you can find cheap bacon on sale that works just as well.

Thanks for the tips! One year I used uncured bacon and it came out horrible. Been scared to use pork at all ever since, but sometime I may try cured bacon with a small batch.

I would suggest trying it again right away just so you know it works. I wouldn't wait until next season. That way if there is a real issue you can have it resolved before you really need it.

Good call. My wife still has a buck tag, and I have late muzzloader elk, so it may get some action soon.

And as stated before - partially frozen will help immensely. I've used many grinders over the years and unless you have access to a huge commercial unit, they all work better if the meat is about half frozen.
I have the same 1HP unit and it works well.  :hello:

I have the same model and it quickly chews up anything I have fed into it.
