Puyallup Pinks

My friend was telling me I should try this, though I've never actually fished for salmon except for maybe a handful of times when I was handed a rod an said ok go for it.  I know nothing  of tactic or technique but this seemed pretty straight forward just like that article. I think I might have to give it a try. Is there a preferable time to go up to the Puyallup river and do this? Would this be possible now or soon? I was told around october???

It should be good by the middle of August...I'll post reports/updates as I plan on fishing a couple times a week from now until Sept....Oct is way too late.

Pinks will be done before October. Best time for brighter fish is mid August to early Sept. There are some fish in now, I'm sure, but lower stretch doesn't open till 8/10. Be sure to check the regs as there are some day closures and other interesting regs.

 It really can be a total zoo, or if you are willing to explore you can get away from the melees.

It is a rather sad indictment for our fisheries if you can't find something better to fish for closer to Vancouver than pinks on the Puyallup.

That's what I was figuring that it was way late. There are more to fish around here on the big river. But everyone always makes it seems like pinks are such fun and easier to target than the rest so I figured I'd maybe try and check it out. I guess I'll have to debate between preseason camping/scouting for elk or taking a weekend to try and fish for pinks

There are about 1 million better fisheries that are closer to Vancouver than the Puyallup.  North, south, east, and west all have way better options.

Yes there may be fisheries towards the Vancouver area, but the Puyallup has like a half million pinks coming up in a very short time. Its a great place to teach woman, children, and the newbies how to catch fish... Along with a lot of chatter from the gobs of people. The rivers towards Vancouver have fish, yes! But when you can hook a fish about every cast, even though there are a lot of people, why not?  I know we all want to keep our secret spots. But I do not believe the Puyallup is any secret when it comes to pinks. You can get in and out in less then an hour with your limit. And leave a spot for someone else to step in. And believe me when they are running, there is no shortage of fish.
