New elk bow??!!
« on: May 18, 2016, 08:33:10 PM »
So I'm buying a new elk bow and its down to the bowtech bt-x 31 or the Mathews halon-5? Give me pros and cons of each and what you would choose and why.

Disclaimer I shoot a Mathews however, you should try and shoot an elite. I have heard really great things. If it's just those two I love the halon!

I shot the Mathew's Nocam, Halon and the elite impulse 31 the other day.

Here is the link to that review.

I don't think it's a fair comparison between the BTx and halon 5. BTx and halon 6 are pretty darn close on physical specs 6" brace height and 30-31" ata.

I'm no expert but I like comfort. That being said I shot the halon 5,6,7, BTX31, prodigy, and pro line from Hoyt and pse. I ended up picking up the prodigy because of the smooth draw and adjustability in performance.

Between your two choices BTx. But that's personal opinion.

As a disclaimer I currently shoot an older bowtech. I am still open to hear all opinions about models in both camps, but I'm pretty sure whatever it is i decide on will be a Mathews or bowtech.

I went with the Halon 6 and really like it. Coming from a Hoyt spyder.

Just shoot a bunch of bows and see what feels like best for you that you like

I wouldn't have guessed I would never shoot anything but a Mathew's but after shooting the elite I am having second thoughts.
