Action Alert! Urgent! Please
« on: February 11, 2009, 11:40:34 AM »
Good Morning ... here is a letter being sent by CCA's new online action alert system, Voter Voice to all our members to forward to Olympia elected officials. Even if you aren't a CCA member, this Senate bill needs your attention. Please send a copy of this to Governor Gregoire, your state Senator and your two state representitives. This is URGENT! I have included links at the bottom of the page to get their email addresses.

Thanks
CCA Sea-Tac
Shawn

Dear ---------------
I am contacting you to express my strong opposition to SB 5127, which would severely limit the ability of citizens to actively participate in the management of Washington’s fish and wildlife resources. I respectfully request that you oppose this legislation should it come before you for a vote.

SB 5127 would gut the ability of the Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission to ensure that the policies and management objectives of the Department of Fish and Wildlife promote the sustainable management of Washington’s fish and wildlife populations. The legislation would limit the Commission’s ability to meet and formulate policy and oversee the management of WDFW. The Commission was given this important oversight authority through Referendum 45, which was approved by the Legislature in 1995 and received over 60% in a vote by the people that fall.

The nine-member Fish and Wildlife Commission is comprised of individuals from across the state who bring diverse experiences and backgrounds to ensure WDFW’s management is independent, free of politics, and in the best interest of the health of our fish and wildlife populations. Many of our salmon and steelhead populations remain on the brink of extinction and require conservation-based management free of undue political or special interest influence.

I hope you will join me in supporting the importance of our current Commission structure and opposing SB 5127.

Respectfully,

Your name
