Ocean Shores Jetty Fishing
« on: July 21, 2017, 12:45:09 PM »
Well my family's week long migration to the coast this year puts us in Ocean Shores from July 30 through Aug. 5 this year.  In years past I have only fished the surf for perch and done very well, but due to the timing of this year I was hoping that fishing from the jetty there might produce a salmon or some rock fish.  Any info one is willing to share would be great.  Thanks in advance!!!

Matt.

It's pretty Snaggy.  If you fish a herring under a slip bobber you can catch salmon if they're in.  Should be some by the end of the month.
There are sea bass and lings to be had, but it's not as good as the south jetty.  I did hook a 5' six gill shark on a spoon last year.

Ocean salmon has been good.  Might be worth booking a charter out of Westport.

Have had a good time doing that in the past, but it is not in the cards on this trip.  Any idea when they start to head in from the ocean?  Is it even worth trying or should I just stick to rock fishing and surf perch?

Thanks again!

I don't know about fishing off the jetty for salmon, but that time frame is a bit early for large numbers to be in the bay.
