Ted Nugent Controversy
« on: October 18, 2019, 10:36:44 PM »
This seems a little over the top on all this. Pretty messed up in my eyes the government went after him like that.

Sounds like FOX evening news.  Liberals looking to decimate anyone and anything they don't agree with.  God forbid we could just have different opinions and just move on with life.  Nope! Liberals believe "we're right, you're wrong - you should be outcast and denigrated if you differ from our viewpoint.  You are horrible!  We are perfect and you should be made to suffer for your conservative values".

Very sad state of affairs.  Ted will be fine.  The rest of us, I'm not so sure.

I'm sorry, but nope nope nope.

Ignorance of the law is not a defense for violating it. We could debate the law, the value of it and logic all day but that is an unacceptable excuse. It's always been our responsibility to know and follow the rules. As far as having charges filed by a US attorney and not by the Alaska prosecutor, that's just prosecutorial discretion. Sometimes they'll look at the evidence and say not worth it, other times they'll go after someone. And then they'll levy additional charges that they think they can get someone on. Pleading no contest as opposed to a plea deal is pretty weird though

It's not "a rule book" it's the law. Does it suck? Yeah. Is it a stupid law? Seems like it. But he's not the completely innocent victim he is presenting himself as. That's our justice system folks, for good and bad

The law appears to be misapplied in this case. If the video shows what Ted says it does; he should have been given a warning.

Not really.

"My arrow hit an animal and I watched it on replay tape"

"I then went out and shot a different bear"

" I then read the regs I hadn't read before and found out I had violated the the regs"

"I'm innocent. And the liberals are out to get me"

It's really no different than someone shooting a WT doe in the NE corner this year. Read the rules. Play by the rules

Ted made a mistake that not even the State of AK was willing to prosecute. This teaches us two things. First, know your regs backward and forward. Second, as long as we hunt, there will be those who will hound us and our tradition until we can hunt no more. I hope the judgement is overturned or Uncle Ted is pardoned by Uncle Donald.

I wonder if you've ever made a hunting mistake and then owned up to it on national TV. Likely not. You don't have to like Ted's show. I don't watch it or other hunting shows (once in a while reruns of Meateater on Netflix). But you should acknowledge that he laid everything bare (or bear) for his viewers. And he never blamed his mistake on Obama. He took full responsibility. That's why AK didn't file any charges. He blamed Obama for the stacking of the courts with liberal prosecutors, which Obama did. But, just be a hater. That's fine too.  :dunno:
